This book looks inside the sketchbooks of 40 master artists, including artist writer and naturalist Cathy Johnson, whose work I’ve posted below.

“From colorful painted sketches to spontaneous napkin doodles, from the intensely personal to the purely whimsical, most of the work here was produced quickly and never intended for public view. It is honest and immediate, fresh and fearless.” -from Rice Freeman-Zachery’s review.

Cathy Johnson, featured in the book, has extensive sketches, watercolors and other works on her Flickr  and also be sure to visit the home page of her website as well.  I’ve selected a couple at random to serve as today’s inspiration.
