These are sketches of jewellery produced at the time of the wedding of the Grand Duke Alexander Mihailovich and Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna of Russia in 1894. The duchess kept an illustrated and annotated record of her personal jewels. Some of her jewellery albums are about to go on auction at Bonhams, at an estimated sale value of 150,000 to 200,000 pounds.

The Grand Duchess was the daughter of Tsar Aleksander III and sister of Nicholas II. The albums contain almost 1,000 pieces of jewellery she received through 1912.
